Thursday, 26 March 2026 – 11:00 a.m. Chile time (UTC–3)
This videoconference is organized by the United Nations Regional Hub for Big Data in Brazil, in collaboration with the Statistics Division of ECLAC and the National Institute of Statistics of Chile (INE), and is part of a series of webinars dedicated to the Sustainable Development Indicators. The aim is to broaden the regional debate on the use of new technologies and emerging methodologies—such as artificial intelligence, data science, big data, and other alternative data sources—in the production of official statistics and indicators for monitoring the 2030 Agenda.
This third session featured the participation of InKyung Choi, representing the High-Level Group for the Modernisation of Official Statistics (HLG-MOS) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Since its establishment, the HLG-MOS has provided a community-driven platform for identifying emerging issues and developing a collective approach to addressing them.
This presentation links the recent outcomes of the HLG-MOS with the strategic needs of the modernization processes of National Statistical Offices, particularly in addressing the challenges of transforming statistical production, proactively strengthening trust, and fostering greater organizational agility.
