Objectives
  1. Spur measures in the region to generate information on disability in accordance with the approach set down in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) of the World Health Organization (WHO), as promoted by the Washington Group on Disability Statistics.
  2. Foster a unified conceptualization and method for measuring disability in the region, on the basis of ICF and the recommendations of the Washington Group on Disability Statistics.
  3. Improve the technical capacity of countries in the region to compile and disseminate data on disability based on ICF.
  4. Promote the formulation of a methodological proposal on the design and execution of projects that use administrative records to generate statistics on disability in the countries of the region.
  5. Support the creation of an information and identification system for persons with disabilities for the purposes of planning, implementing and evaluating policy actions for this social group, as well as building national and regional indicators for monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals.
  6. Form a support network between institutions, national and international organizations (including other working groups of the Statistical Conference of the Americas of ECLAC), experts, users and producers of information to implement a single information and identification system for persons with disabilities in the region.
