This webinar is organized by the United Nations Regional Hub for Big Data in Brazil, with the collaboration of the INE of Chile and the Statistics Division of ECLAC. It is part of a cycle of videoconferences that aims to highlight the potential of using mobile phone data for the production of official statistics, and address the challenges for its implementation.
On this occasion, the specific case of population statistics in the context of natural or human-made disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, communicable diseases, pandemics, and also situations of generalized violence, such as armed conflicts, will be addressed. It will include the participation of Ms. Ayumi Arai, from the University of Tokyo, Japan, Mr. Federico Segui, from the INE of Uruguay, and Ms. Siiri Silm, from the University of Tartu, Estonia.
